Born in Grenada, Mississippi, Willis was known for his signature style of muted guitar riffs which added a distinctive tone or "color" to the beat, often timed with the snare, of the hundreds of hit songs recorded at Hitsville USA for Motown artists.

He and fellow Funk Brothers Studio Musicians cranked out hit after hit but never received the recognition they deserved.

Eddie's guitar riffs were very signature and distinct. They can be heard at the beginning of songs like; Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made To Love Her and "Signed Sealed Delivered", The Temptations "The Way You Do The Things You Do", The Supremes "You Keep Me Hanging On", The Marvelettes "My Baby Must Be A Magician"...just to name a few.

Eddie and I were never extensively formally trained or educated in the field of music, however we were blessed to perform worldwide with music legends. He always said that was "really cool". He was so humble.  We truly miss you, Eddie!
